One Killed in Plane Crash at Fairfield Airport

FAIRFIELD, Iowa — One person is dead following a plane crash in southeastern Iowa Sunday afternoon.

According to the Des Moines Register, a private plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Fairfield airport.

The pilot died in the crash. He was on the only one on board. His name has not been released.

The Register says according the FAA, the plane was a BD-4 and described as being amateur built.

It was owned by a Fairfield man.
