BOONE, Iowa — Two people were thrown into the Des Moines River in Boone after separate personal water crafts collided with something in the water.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says Christian Whitney of Rippey and Kevin Davis of Johnston, both 42, were taken to the hospital. Officials say life jackets likely saved their lives.

A third man in the group was arrested on boating while intoxicated charges.
