Man Injured in Jasper County Train Collision

KELLOGG, Iowa - One man was injured after a train crashed into a Jasper County road maintainer Monday afternoon.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says Rick Rawlins, 55, was crossing the tracks at the intersection of Railroad Street and N 19th Avenue E. in Kellogg at about 4:30 p.m. when an Iowa Interstate train traveling westbound struck him.

Rawlins was taken to hospital but was later released.

The maintainer, train engine and tracks were all damaged.

The accident is under investigation.
