JOHNSTON - 100 runners from across the state of Iowa broke a world record Saturday afternoon at Johnston High School.

The 100 X 5K.  Each runner runs a 5K, passes the baton to the next runner and so on and so on until all 100 runners are finished.

The run started Friday at noon and it ended Saturday afternoon a little after 4:00, just over 28 hours.

The old record was 30 hours, so the Iowa runners set a new world record.

Event coordinator Tyson Wieland ran the anchor leg.
