FOREST CITY, Iowa -- Day three of RAGBRAI is the longest day of the week.

Riders left from Emmetsburg Wednesday morning and headed the 80 miles to Forest City.

Wednesday’s long trek included several stops.

The first was in Ringsted where riders enjoyed Danish treats and entertainment. Although the first stop was only 20 miles in riders were already dealing with the wind and extreme heat.

“The sun is always a worry for a guy like me. The wind, yeah that’s definitely a factor we faced that going north and west. But hopefully part of this loop goes south and east it’ll be at our backs, just need a little extra boost,” says one rider.

From Ringsted riders went to Bancroft before deciding if they want to do the century loop which would make today's total 105 miles.

Riders who complete the century loop get a patch to show off their accomplishment.

  • I like to bike, but I walk, too.

Every year for RAGBRAI, it is either scorching hot, too cool, rainy, buggy, or something caused by nature. That’s because these riders are choosing to ride their bikes across Iowa . There is no news here and RAGBRAI ceased to be an interesting story a long time ago. Blah blah blah, they’re riding their bikes. Good for them, if they want to do it, great, go for it. Just quit talking about it, blah blah blah.
