According to AgWired and other news sources, National Pork Producer Council (NPPC) president-elect Ron Prestage was arrested in Washington D.C. at a House Building on charges of carrying a pistol without a license on July 23.

Reportedly, the Camden, South Carolina native has a concealed carry permit in his home state, but not in Washington, D.C., where the charge of carrying a pistol without a license can be punished by up to five years in prison.

NPPC Director of Communications Dave Warner stated that NPPC will not comment on the matter.
