DES MOINES, Iowa–Authorities in Des Moines are trying to figure out the identity of a man found in the Des Moines River Sunday.

Des Moines police say a boater called around 12:45p.m. after spotting the body in debris in the water near Southeast 36th and Vandalia Road. Police officers weren’t able to retrieve the body. Later, the Des Moines Fire Department Water Emergency Team pulled out the man.

Police say they didn’t find any identification on the man’s body and found no obvious signs of trauma. Authorities haven’t released a physical description of the man yet, except to say he was white. They weren’t able to say how long he had been in the water.
