Northeast Iowa Mayor Arrested, Accused of Sexually Abusing Two Girls

OELWEIN, Iowa – The mayor of the northeast Iowa community of Oelwein has been arrested, accused of sexually abusing two girls in 2010.

The Waterloo Courier reports that Jason Manus, 36, was arrested following a month-long investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Human Services. Investigators said that Manus sexually abused a 14-year-old girl four times and 9-year-old girl once during the summer of 2010.

Manus has been charged with five counts of second degree sexual abuse. His bond has been set at $125,000. If convicted, he faces up to 125 years in prison.

According to The Courier, Manus was elected mayor of Oelwein in 2013. City officials declined to comment on the arrest Monday morning.

      True…but right now it is an accusation from four years ago. Give him his right to an attorney, and jury trial. If convicted, give him the max. under law. Mayors and politicians in general can get accusations against then as a way of attacking them due to their politics.In divorces MANY mothers allege abuse so they can get total custody of kids. It happened to me, she lost, I won, she ended up on the abuse registry, and I got the kids.
