DES MOINES, Iowa — A former police officer has been found guilty of lascivious acts with a child.

Thirty-one-year-old Andrew Haney of South Carolina faces a sentence of five years behind bars. It comes after the Pleasant Hill Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children affiliate determined he sent inappropriate messages and pictures of his genitals to a 13-year-old Des Moines girl over the internet.

Haney’s job was terminated after his arrest in October of 2013.

Haney will also be forced to register as a sex offender.
