DES MOINES, Iowa - Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is confirmed in Story county. It is an insect responsible for billions of dollars in damages. There are now 13 Iowa counties with EAB.

The Asia-native beetle has swept the nation killing ash trees. It travels mainly through firewood being moved across the country. Iowa has a statewide quarantine for transporting wood.

Homeowners that want to save their Ash trees can regularly apply treatments.
