NEWTON, Iowa — The California man police say pretended to be an actor from the movie “Twilight” in an attempt to prey on young women has pleaded not guilty.

Thirty-three-year-old David Lavera appeared in Jasper County court Monday morning. He’s charged with enticing a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities say he lured a girl into his car and also secretly recorded teens in a bathroom.

Lavera performed at two Newton schools earlier this year. He did acrobatic stunts and signed autographs using the name of an actor in the “Twilight” series.

Lavera’s trial has been scheduled for November 5th.
