DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Barnstormers will no longer play in the Arena Football League, but they're not going anywhere.

The Indoor Football League has 12 teams from cities like: Green Bay, Cedar Rapids, and Grand Island, Nebraska.

It's a step down from the AFL, but President Jeff Lamberti believes this move puts the Barnstormers in a better financial situation.

Former Coe College and Barnstormers quarterback Joe Brannen will coach the team in its first IFL season.

Well, that was a wasted 5 years waiting for another Barnstormers Arena Bowl team. Now there’s no other pro teams to support around here. I’ll never support anything associated with the Cubs, the Energy is just blehhhh, and the Wild doesn’t grab me. The coverage, or lack thereof, by the Dud Moines Register certainly never helped the Barnstormers in attracting fans. Although they did do reasonably well at the gate under the circumstances. I just don’t think those fans will have a positive response to another demotion to the lower depths of arena football.

This is a rinky-dink league. I went to a Nebraska Danger game last year, it was small time. Bad decision. They won’t be getting my cash.
