DES MOINES, Iowa -- This weekend, going to Principal Park will save lives.

LifeServe Blood Center is teaming up with the Iowa Cubs for a blood drive. It's this Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be tailgating, food, and everyone who donates will also receive a free ticket to a game.

There is a critical need for blood, especially this time of year.

"Holiday weekends are really difficult for us and summer months as well. So summer months leading into a holiday weekend are especially difficult just because people get busy with their summer activities, travel plans, sports and leisure activities,” says Beth Phillips, with LifeServe.

Donating takes about an hour, but one donation can save three lives.

If you can't make it out Saturday, LifeServe can set up an appointment at the blood center.
