Fiery Highway 5 Crash Investigation Concludes

highway 5 crashDES MOINES, Iowa — An investigation is now closed in a deadly crash from earlier this month.

Police say Scott Bittick, 56, of Des Moines veered off the road and slammed into a bridge on Highway 5 near Fleur Drive on August 4.

Bittick was thrown from the car, and he died at the scene.

Police say excessive speed way a factor in the crash.

    Great investigation DMPD. What gave you the first clue that it was excessive speed? Maybe the fact that it ejected him from the car or that the front end of the car was nearly gone! Great detective work. Im pretty sure there is more to the cause of the crash than just speeding.
