DES MOINES, Iowa–If a politician wants to get noticed, he should come to Iowa. If he wants to get into the “who is going to run for president in 2016” conversation, he should come to a lunch thrown to benefit Iowa’s longest-serving Governor Terry Branstad’s re-election campaign.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence, a Republican, will attend a fundraising lunch, September 8th, in Des Moines, Branstad’s campaign confirmed Thursday.

This would be Pence’s first trip to Iowa during the 2014 cycle.

Chris Christie, Rick Perry and now Rand Paul. If I was a Republican thinking about running for president I’d fly over the state like everyone else does. Its bad luck.
