BOONE, Iowa — It’s Pufferbilly Days in Boone, and many activities are planned for the weekend. But before most events occurred, citizens of Boone gathered on City Hall steps at noon Friday to remember Iowa’s fallen soldiers.

The exhibit called “Remembering Our Fallen” features photos of Iowans who lost their lives serving in the recent middle east conflicts where our soldiers were deployed. The exhibit is located this weekend on the second floor of the Boone City Hall, during Pufferbilly Days.  The exhibit stretches across the entire room with the photos of close to 90 soldiers.

This was the first time a ceremony for this exhibit was held in Boone. Pete Frangos of the Boone Veteran’s Council said, “I just think it’s a great tribute to these men and women who have lost their lives, and paid the ultimate price in the defense of our freedoms.” Frangos also added, ” There’s no better way to do it, than on the steps of City Hall.”

Around 50 people were on hand for the ceremony. There is no charge to view the exhibit.
