Update: The man accused of trying to kill a peace officer, Abel Quijas Jr., 33, was taken into custody without incident Friday morning, the Iowa State Patrol said.

OELWEIN, Iowa — Law enforcement officials in northeast Iowa are asking for the public’s help to find a man accused of trying to kill a peace officer.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says 33-year-old Abel Quijas Jr. is wanted on one count of attempted murder involving a peace officer. The charge stems from an incident that happened Thursday afternoon in Oelwein. Officials haven’t released any specific information about the incident.

Quijas was last seen northeast of Oelwein and he was traveling on foot.
