Local Retail Stores Looking for Help

Christmas is more than three months away, but many retail stores are already searching for some seasonal help.

“We’re always looking for great people and we’re looking to bring on another 100 associates,” said Daryl Dell ‘Anno, Store Leader at JcPenney in West Des Moines.

Valley West Mall held a job fair Saturday afternoon.

Dozens of stores had booths set up with recruiters looking to fill part-time, seasonal, and even full-time positions.

Some stories reported paying just over minimum wage while others said pay was based on commission.

For Chibs Ichadela, any extra money this time of year will help him make ends meet.

“I had a full time job and even with a part time job, things can still be difficult,” said Ichadela.

Iowa’s unemployment rate is at 4.5%. That is below the national rate of 6.1%.
