WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Two people have lodged sexual discrimination complaints against West Des Moines police chief, Shaun LaDue.

West Des Moines city manager Tom Hadden would not discuss the basis for the allegations but did confirm one complaint has been investigated and is in the hands of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission.

The other is currently under investigation.

Hadden says the city takes these complaints very seriously, but is confident there will be no findings of discrimination.

LaDue was hired in 2012.

Some criticized the hiring process, because the former city manager who hired LaDue, Greg Sparks, had worked with him in Owatonna, Minnesota.
