WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Since 2010, the West Des Moines School District has been under construction making big repairs and improvements. It’s all a part of the district’s $67 million 10-year-facility plan. One of the district’s largest projects, Valley High School is almost complete.

The three-story add-on includes new science labs, cafeteria, and a FEMA shelter. Crews are working on the final phase which includes a performing arts center, drama and orchestra rooms, and math classrooms. Officials hope to have the building inspected sometime this week.

The district plans on holding an open house on November 17.
