DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Wild’s is celebrating its second season in Iowa. This weekend the team will host its home opener at the Wells Fargo Arena.

Last season was rough, finishing last in the league, but the team still had a lot to be proud. With an average of nearly 6,000 fans every game, the Iowa Wild ranked in the top ten in overall attendance in the AHL.

Owners credit the team’s engagement in the community. The team is involved in school programs like “Wild about Reading” and the “Healthy Living Floor Hockey Program.” They also raise money for non-profits throughout the year.

The team’s attendance winning streak has a promising future. So far 6,500 people have purchased tickets for Friday night’s game. Officials expect around 8,000 to attend. The team will compete against the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information go to
