Gilbert’s Pollard cruises to State XC title

FORT DODGE - Gilbert Senior Thomas Pollard is one of the top runners in the country and it showed against the state cross country meet on Saturday.

Pollard blew away the 3A field, winning by over a minute and finishing with the fastest time in all classes.  The Tigers won the 3A championship.

In class 4A the Johnston boys finished 3rd, Linn-Mar the team champ.  Valley's Daniel Soto is the individual champ, holding off Ryan Schweizer of Dowling.

East Marshall won the 2A boys title.

On the girls side, the top ranked Johnston Dragons brought home the hardware.  Johnston, led by Jordan Kleve, held off Urbandale and Ames to take first.  Roosevelt's Megan Schott is the individual champ in class 4A.

Class 3A belonged to Gilbert's Grace Gibbons, Gibbons is the champ and the Tigers finish runner-up.
