BENTON COUNTY, Iowa — A 12-year-old girl is in critical condition following a farm accident in Benton County.

Authorities say she fell into a grain bin wagon full of corn at about noon Sunday at a farm in Benton County.

Deputies had to pull the girl out of the wagon. They say she was working on top of it with her mom and sister when she fell.

She nearly suffocated under the 600 bushels of corn, which was still being pumped in.

Authorities say they will release more details on their investigation Monday.
