DES MOINES, Iowa -- Northwest Beaver Drive has been closed since April, but the city of Johnston reopened the road Monday.

Construction crews still have a little work left and hope to have everything finished by November 21.

When this $3.88 million project is complete, NW Beaver Drive will have a two-way left turn lane, LED street lights, and a five-foot wide sidewalk on the west side of the street.

Johnson has a few big projects starting next spring including work on NW 70th Avenue from the west city limits to NW 86th Street.
