With election results in, Bill Northey enters his third term as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture.

A 50 percent turnout in the midterms had Northey win a landslide victory of 62 percent of the vote against challenger Sherrie Taha, who garnered 34 percent. New Independent Part Iowa challenger Levi Benning took 3.5 percent of the vote.

Nearly 1.076 million people voted for the Secretary of Agriculture position.

Northey says the Iowa Department of Agriculture is addressing water quality aggressively in a voluntary way, and he hopes to see more conservation practices like cover crops and bioreactors in fields across the state.
