DES MOINES, Iowa — Holiday bells will be heard for the first time this year as the Salvation Army kicks off its Red Kettle campaign.

Donations in those buckets support the Salvation Army’s Christmas program and its year-round family ministries.

There will be 60 red kettle locations in the metro.

The goal this year is to raise more than $1.2-million.

Volunteers are needed to fill nearly 20,000 bell ringing hours.
