MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota -- A cancer survivor got a new guitar this weekend and quite a story to tell.

Iowan Teresa Shaw was in Minneapolis for the Garth Brooks concert this weekend. It was a much needed break after five months fighting stage three breast cancer.

According to sister station KARE, She and her 19-year old daughter made a sign at the hotel that read, "Chemo this morning, Garth tonight, enjoying the dance."

‘The Dance’ is one of Shaw's favorite songs.

So Shaw asked if she could get closer to the stage so the singer could see the sign and it was a show stopper.

Brooks gave Shaw his guitar he was playing on stage and had a message for her, “You have all of my strength. You have everybody's strength in here and you go kick cancer's ass.”

Brooks’ sister and mother died from cancer, so he says he took it as a sign.
