IOWA CITY - Close, but not close enough.

After trailing 16-3 at halftime the Iowa Hawkeyes rallied in the 2nd half, but came up short against #16 Wisconsin losing 26-24.

The Hawkeyes needed to beat the Badgers to keep their hopes of playing in the Big 10 title game alive.   That didn't happen.

All-American RB Melvin Gordon rushed for 200 yards and 2 TD's for the Badgers.

Jake Rudock started slow for Iowa but turned it on in the 2nd half.  Rudock finished with 311 yards passing and 2 TD's.

Rudock hit Jake Duzey on a 9 yard TD with just over 5 mins to play to cut the Badger lead to 2, but the defense couldn't make a stop to get the ball back.

Iowa falls to 7-4 overall, 4-3 in the Big 10.  The Hawkeyes host Nebraska next Friday in their regular season finale.  Kickoff 11am from Kinnick Stadium.

Channel 13's Michael Admire talked with the Hawkeyes after the loss.
