Missing Des Moines Man Found

UPDATED–Des Moines police say they have found a missing elderly man who they feared could be in danger. A news release didn’t say where they located Charles Lanam, 80.


DES MOINES, Iowa–Des Moines police say an elderly man has disappeared and they haven’t been able to locate his family to notify about him missing.

Charles Lanam, 80, was last seen November 14th, at his apartment in Des Moines’ Ligutti Towers, according to a police news release Saturday afternoon. Police say Lanam suffers from dementia and depression. The release stated that “detectives feel as though he may be in danger.”

Lanam is described as a white male, 5’4″, 140 pounds, with white hair. His picture shows him with long hair. But police believe he has short hair now.

Police ask anyone with information about Lanam’s whereabouts to call 9-1-1 or Des Moines Police Dispatch at 515-283-4811.
