Iowa Army Guard Unit Welcomed Home

BOONE, Iowa- It was a Thanksgiving week celebration in Boone for families of the Iowa Army Guard of Company B of the 248th Support Battalion.  The Guard sent 40 soldiers to Kosovo to serve for a year in aviation support.

Iowa Army National Guard Brigadier General Steven Altman praised the unit for their high achievement while in Kosovo.  The management was scored a 97% efficiency, and logged 31% more flying hours than the soldiers who served their before the Iowa group.

"You've set a new standard, and we would expect nothing less for it," said Altman.  "you brought everyone back," added Altman.

Families poured into the Boone Middle School gym to welcome home loved ones. The Vladamir Vega family of Grinnell have plans, for a party, and to go on vacation.

"We are proud of you, we are proud of your service,"said Altman.
