AMES, Iowa- The game against Texas Tech is long over, and the fans are all gone. After Sunday morning church service, teens from CrossRoad Baptist Church don their old clothes and head to Jack Trice Stadium.

The teens pick up trash in grass lots around the stadium.  They are also charged with picking up and stacking trash barrels so they are at the ready for the next game.  The crews find all sorts of things.

"Mysterious things like in toilet paper..rotten things.....pizza," said Michael Ajbaje.

"Wet food, like when it rains and the food is soggy, it's just gross," said Bethany Nemec.  "We've found money, car keys, and cell phones, said Nemec. "We find articles of clothing, we find lots of things."

The students are willing to put up with little trash in order to help pay for a mission trip next summer. "It is to go into inner cities, we've previously gone to New York and Philadelphia," said Nemec.  "To be an encouragement to kids who haven't ever really heard about the name of Jesus Christ."

"Going to Philadelphia the last time we did this, it had an impact on me," said Ajbaje.  "It just shows everyone needs to be cared for." The students do activities with kids in inner city parks.

"We're taking care of these kids, said Ajbaje. "They are in a way like helping us out too."  The students try to make relationships with kids they meet and offer encouragement.
