DES MOINES, Iowa-- A Des Moines man says another driver first tried to run him off the road, then ran him over. Police are still looking for the suspect in the hit and run.
It happened last Monday night on East Euclid. 47-year-old Eric Phanmaha was heading home with his two sons when he noticed a white pickup truck behind him. He says the driver was tailgating him, would speed up and get in front of him, only to slam on the brakes.
“There was a clearly an intentional act to engage the victim,” said Des Moines Police Sgt. Jason Halifax.
Phanmaha says he tried to avoid the other driver, but it became impossible when the man, who he doesn't know, tried to run him off the road. When the father of two stopped to confront him, the situation got even worse.
“I saw him backing up and thought he was just going to take off,” said Phanmaha. “He gunned the car at me and hit me pinned me to the side of my car and just took off.”
"It could have been an intentional act. That would be assault with a vehicle, assault with a weapon with this type of injury," said Halifax.
After spending a week in the hospital, Phanmaha is at a rehab facility tonight. He can't walk due to the three fractures to his pelvis.
Police are looking for a 2008 white, four-door Ford F-150 pickup. Phanmaha described the driver as being in his 30’s with blondish-brown hair and a full beard.

Not a mistake, or accident….the children must have been so frightened.

With your kids in your car, why would you confront the driver, instead of driving to the police station and reporting him? There’s probably a bit more to this story.

it is unfortunate that it took so long to get this on the news. Anyone who might have remembered seeing that truck in the area has probably forgotten about it by now.
