MORAVIA, Iowa — An audit released by the state of Iowa shows the state-owned Honey Creek Resort posted a profit in 2014.
The Appanoose County vacation spot on Rathbun Lake is in its sixth year.
This fiscal year the resort made a profit of $164,000. Operating revenue included more than $3.4 million from lodging, more than $1.8 million from restaurant and banquet operations and nearly $698,000 from golf course operations.
The resort has struggled financially since opening in September of 2008.
