House Fire Claims Man’s Life in Granger Overnight

GRANGER, Iowa — Fire crews responded to a fatal fire in Granger Monday morning.

The call came in just before 4:30 a.m. at 18830 Jordan Lane off of Highway 141.

The fire chief confirmed with our crew on the scene that one person died in the fire.

“We did find a victim right inside the front door. He was deceased. We went into defensive when the roof collapsed,” Granger Fire Chief Jarrod Sturtz said.

Two people and a dog were able to get out of the house to alert authorities.

Fire crews from Johnston, Grimes, Polk City, Urbandale, Dallas Center and Woodward responded.

The fire marshal will lead the investigation into the cause of the fire.

The house is a total loss.
