Armed Thieves Barge into Home as Victim Lets Dog Out

A home near Grand View University was targeted by armed thieves Wednesday morning (WHO-HD)

DES MOINES, Iowa – Several armed robbers targeted a Des Moines home Wednesday morning stealing electronics, phones and wallets.

The Des Moines Register reports officers arrived at a home in the 700 block of Boyd Street around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The three victims told police there were between three and six robbers, both male and female, carrying up to four guns and multiple knives.

One of the victims told police he was letting the dog out of the side door when six people carrying two knives and four guns rushed into the home. The suspects pushed the victim down the basement stairs. When he got up and went after the suspects, he was pushed to the floor again in the kitchen.

The thieves took two tablets, a wallet, cellphones and medication from the victim.

Another victim told police three of the men broke down his bedroom door and stole a wallet, an iPad Air, three cellphones and a laptop.

A third victim had a wallet, tablet and cellphone from his bedroom.

One suspect stabbed the victim’s television with his knife during the incident, destroying the screen.

No suspects have been identified in the case.
