Statewide, Iowa farmland average values fell by 8.9 percent in 2014 according to Iowa State University.
The average estimated value of Iowa farmland is about $7,943 an acre, a decrease of $773 dollars from 2013.
Iowa State lists lower commodity prices as the most frequently mentioned negative factor affecting land value.
Since 1910, farmland values have increased 73 percent of the years and decreased 24 percent of the years. ISU projects commodity prices will stabilize, but will still be under the cost of production
Every year ISU conducts annual land value surveys.
