DES MOINES, Iowa — Dozens of Bridgestone employees are about to be laid off,

The company announced Monday it would voluntarily lay off 69 employees at its Des Moines plant. A company spokesperson tells us the layoffs are the result of a decline in demand for agriculture tires, across the entire industry.

Employees affected by the cuts will receive unemployment pay and supplementary benefits.

Bridgestone says demand could pick back up and they will reevaluate the layoffs at the end of the first quarter.
