MARSHALLTOWN,Iowa -- A crowd of family and friends gathered Sunday night to remember a young man who was murdered.

Late Saturday night police responded to 1203 West Church Street where they found 20-year-old Dedrikk Fisher shot. Fisher died early Sunday morning from his injuries. Witnesses identified Jose Morales as the suspect. Authorities have been looking for him ever since. Police say once found, he will be charged with first degree murder and going armed with intent.

Fisher says the death of her son still seems surreal but is grateful for the community's support. Police are investigating the motive but regardless of their findings, Fisher says violence is not the answer, "I don't think anything was that serious that it had to come to that."

The victim's uncle proclaimed to the crowd the recent crime activity in Marshalltown is senseless.

"You hear it in Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit all these big cities but when it comes here it hits home," said Lloyd Davis. "It needs to stop. It needs to stop. That's all there is to it."

Family members want people to remember Fisher by his funny and laid-back personality. Fisher did not have life insurance. In order to help with funeral expenses, the family has launched a "Go Fund Me" page.
