DES MOINES, Iowa — A local group is calling for changes to Iowa’s medical cannabis law.

Currently, it is legal for some patients with illnesses involving seizures to possess medical cannabis oil in Iowa, but there is no legal way to buy it in state, or to transport it into the state.

Iowans 4 Medical Cannabis spent the day at the Capitol rallying for change.

The group hopes sharing personal stories, experiences, and suggestions will help persuade lawmakers to expand the law.

“I`d like to see more diagnoses added to the list. People with other serious health conditions. And I`d like to see the medication grown, manufactured, and distributed by Iowan for Iowans,” says advocate Jeri Goodman.

The group says it will be at the Capitol every day the legislature is in session.
