DES MOINES, Iowa – Public works’ crews in Des Moines have been preparing for this weekend’s snow storm since Thursday.

Crews began treating city streets on Thursday and Friday in advance of the snow.

More than 100 pieces of equipment will be used to clear the city’s 225 miles of snow routes Saturday night into Sunday. The city said that once snow routes are cleared, crews will begin to clear residential streets.

Officials said crews will begin working at about 6 p.m. Saturday to begin snow removal operations.
