DES MOINES, Iowa -- As a reporter and columnist, Bryce Miller has covered six Olympic games. He wrote poignant profiles of local amateurs and current and future hall-of-fame athletes. But Miller published his last column Sunday.

“After 23 years at the same company, a lot of those years at the Des Moines Register, it does feel different than I thought it would be to end it,” Miller said while spending Three Minutes in the Chair.

Miller chose to leave the company after being told by the Gannett-owned paper to reapply for his job.

Covering North’s basketball team and Dan Gable were among his career highlights, Miller said.
