Norwalk, Iowa -- Two people were killed in a motorcycle accident in Warren County Saturday evening around 5:15.
The Iowa State Patrol reports the motorcycle was heading southbound on Highway 28 just south of the Highway 5 bypass before the driver lost control on a curve and crashed into a cable barrier.
The report states both riders and the motorcycle came rest on the side of the road. The two were taken to Mercy Hospital but later died of their injuries.
Friends and family say, the riders were Jon "Dutch" Richeson and Lanette LeCroy of Des Moines. According to Facebook it shows the two were in a relationship.
Longtime friend, Tami Curry, is having trouble grasping what happened.
"Jon is a seasoned rider. None of this makes sense, none of it makes any sense."
Curry says the couple devoted themselves to charity work and Richeson was always willing to help others.
"He was just an all around good guy and he would help anybody. He didn’t have to know you. He’s one of those guys what then you met him , whether you knew him for 20 years or 3 days he welcomed you and he was your friend."
The Des Moines Public School website lists Richeson as a painting and drywall teacher at Central Campus. The couple were both 1983 graduates of East High School.
Curry says life without Richeson will be different but knowing how he spent his last moments brings her comfort.
"Jon went doing what he loved to do and he loved Lanette and they were together. It's really tough."
A memorial and candlelight vigil is planned for Monday evening at Bob the Builders LLC at 7:30.
