IOWA CITY – Sophomore Point Guard Trey Dickerson has been granted a full release and will transfer out of the Hawkeye basketball program.

Dickerson came in to Iowa as a highly touted JUCO PG, but never really found his niche.   Many thought Trey would battle for a starting spot, but that never happened as Mike Gesell and Anthony Clemmons are both clearly ahead of Dickerson on the depth chart.

Dickerson played in just 15 games, averaging 3 points 1 assist per game.

“We appreciate the contributions Trey made during his time here,” said Fran McCaffery. “Trey has a bright future, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”

Dickerson will finish the semester at Iowa and then transfer to a new school.

The Hawkeyes host Illinois on Wednesday.
