DES MOINES, Iowa — Monday, officers with the Des Moines Police Department plan to speak with the registered owner of a vehicle involved in a weekend hit and run accident that left a man dead.

The accident happened Saturday morning in the 300 block of University Avenue.

Officers found 21-year-old Warner Robinson lying face down in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they were able to identify and find the suspect vehicle by looking at surveillance video.

They say Robinson was wearing dark colored clothing and was not crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, so it may have been difficult for the driver to see him.
