A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Northern Iowa until 9 p.m. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the Des Moines-metro.

By the evening, the snow will begin to taper off from northwest to southeast.

Totals will range from 4 to 7 inches from North Central to East Central Iowa with approximately 3 to 4″ falling in the Metro.

Thursday and Friday will be much colder again with highs in the teens and temperatures dipping below zero. Another storm system could bring more accumulating snow to southern Iowa on Sunday, though this storm appears to be more of a factor for Missouri at this point. Watch for further updates.
