DES MOINES, Iowa - No, it's not what you remember from your Kindergarten days.

The 12th Annual Arts and Crafts Show begins Friday night at 5:00 p.m. at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Admission is $6, and gives you access all weekend through the show's closing on Sunday. Kids 10 and under are free, as well.

The show brings nearly 300 exhibitors together under one roof, where hand-crafted items from across the Midwest, like oak furniture, pottery, jewelry, clothing, stained glass and garden art are featured. Organizers say these items aren't like anything you'll find at a Wal-Mart or Target - and some vendors will even make items to your liking.

"These are products that you're not going to find at a Wal-Mart, or a Sears, or any place else, because these are products that are being made by the actual people at the booths," said Tom Callahan, the show director. "If you want something to order for yourself, they will actually make it to your specifications and then bring it to you at another show, or meet you somewhere later on."
