POLK COUNTY, Iowa -- Officials located the body of a missing Oskaloosa woman near Grimes on Friday.

Family members confirm to Channel 13 News the body of Sallie West, 45, of Oskaloosa, was located while searching an area of Beaver Creek, north of Grimes. West's car was found in the creek Friday morning.  She had been reported missing earlier this week.

Sgt. Brandon Bracelin with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was searching the area at 9:24 a.m. in connection with West's disappearance and was checking areas that were not visible from the road. The deputy found her white Pontiac partially submerged in Beaver Creek. It was located under a Highway 141 bridge.

The family tells Channel 13 News that West's body was found in the water near the vehicle.

West was driving the vehicle when she disappeared and officials had received a tip about the vehicle being spotted near Grimes on Monday.

Good thing it is Polk County doing the investigation on this rather then Mahaska. Just hope they use experienced DCI agents if they use the DCI someone with experience that can look at this objectively. The family needs the truth, not assumptions.

The news says she was headed to her son’s home, what is the general location of his home? Was she on the right path at least? The news is so vague, just keep repeating the same thing which doesn’t give anyone a clue, they might be able to shed some light. Don’t the police have the number of the persons who reported she was driving erratically? How did they define erratic? Could she have been trying to turn around realizing she was going the wrong way or missed her exit?
