DES MOINES, Iowa — The care of an Iowa veteran is now under review.

Richard Miles was found dead in Water Works Park in Des Moines last month. His family and friends say he was suffering from PTSD and sought help from the VA.

As a result of his death, Senator Joni Ernst requested an examination of the VA Central Iowa Health Care System`s mental health programs.

The Veterans Affairs Inspector General’s Office initiated a review of the care provided to Miles and will share those finding with Ernst once it is complete. The findings are expected to be done in about a month.
