UPDATE: Officials have cancelled the Amber Alert.

—————————————————————

SOLON, Iowa – Officials have issued an Amber Alert for a girl who police say was abducted from her home Saturday morning.

Police said 10-year-old Brianna Crane was abducted at about 4:45 a.m. from her home in Solon. She is 4 feet tall, weighing 85 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She is described as hearing impaired.

The suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Kenneth Johns. He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 210 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue jeans. Johns is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect vehicle involved in the case is a gray, 2014 Ford Focus with unknown license plates.

Editor’s Note: Officials had initially stated Brianna Crane was 9. At a press conference Saturday night, they corrected the girl’s age.

I agree & the Amber Alert I just heard a half hr ago mentioned the description of the car & license plate number one time….the signs on the interstate didn’t even have a description…. if someone missed the emergency alert, how to know what to watch for?? The Amber Alert could have been handled a bit better I believe…

He should lose starting his toes, fingers, then any appendages he might have. Does he have a history of abuse with children or anyone?

This guy kidnapped a 9 year old girl … from what I read on these posts … KILL HIM … dont care if he is her step-dad or not … and dont care if he was just fighting with the mother or coming to the rescue of this child from an abuse enviroment. Who knows who cares … all that matters is whats put on chat boards and consensus say this guy is bad. Obviously the mother is of complete upstanding social standing and was just deceived into marrying a convicted criminal and incapable fabricating a story.
Dont forget that almost 10 years ago this guy was in prison. PEOPLE never change ever. If he was a hardend criminal then .. he will be one now.
Thank GOD and the baby blessed Jesus that we dont have to hear other sides of stories and can shoot 1st and ask questions later just like the little 8lb 7oz baby jesus would want.

Are you telling us not to pass judgement on a man who kidnapped a child while you pass judgement on a woman who’s child was abducted? o.O

KCRG also reported that a man claiming to be Kenneth Johns called their station Saturday around 5:30 p.m. He provided personal details that police confirmed matched Johns.

The man claiming to be Johns said he had “done nothing wrong” but love his child, according to KCRG’s report. The man also said he took the 10-year-old girl to protect her and said he planned “to have her returned.”

Maybe the mom never notified anyone after she realized they weren’t coming back. no body knows the story but if he is innocent he should turn himself in but he might not bow because people are going to assume The worst of him.

Uh, OK. WHY is my comment awaiting moderation, WHO-TV News? Or, is this another part of your double super secret code that only WHO-TV News Employees can know?

I agree with John Smith! When I first saw his pic I though ” well, he looks like a pervert child molester” which is not fair to him!! I also question the 4:45am abduction time, I mean really, seriously who knows the exact time in the middle of the night that anything goes on unless one was present or it was planned! Just saying! I truly hope & pray she is found soon & alive!

    • John Smith

Thanks, and of course, I hope for the very best outcome for the little girl, too! I just think the public might possibly be of more help in the matter if there was more/better information.

So, on the KCCI site, the story there says this alleged abduction took place around 1:00 PM. And, that the suspect is the little girl’s stepfather.

I sure do wonder about how this is being handled; I would like to think that some official, somewhere has the actual story about these events,

And, this is from an account in the Des Moines Register:

Gary Kramer, deputy captain at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, said the sheriff’s officers were called to a house in Solon about 2:40 a.m. Sunday. While officers were talking to Brianna’s mother, Johns took the girl. The Amber Alert was issued at 3:33 p.m.

So, that’s three news sources in Des Moines, and three different times, one of which may not have actually happened, yet.

This is for you Jay fragle! I will say this he belongs in prison, but for u to say people don’t change makes you look like a fool. Then you use GOD’S name. God for gives the ones that really want his forgiveness not only that it is between GOD and that person. It is so irritating how society just turn there backs on people that has been in prison! Not all are the same.Don’t think for one minute Jay what ever spew’s out of your mouth you will be juged by GOD!

Well, there certainly were a number of posts moderated out of existence on this thread. Yet, NO explanation as to WHY. You know, WHO-TV News, maybe you should consider letting the public in on your double super secret set of rules for this place, so that us mere readers might have a chance to follow them?
