BOONE, Iowa — The Republican Party of Iowa has announced the 2015 Straw Poll will be held in Boone.

The State Central Committee made the decision with a unanimous vote during a conference call Thursday morning, and the information was released via a YouTube video on the party’s website. August 8th has been set as the date for the Straw Poll and it will be held at the Central Iowa Expo.

“Chairman Jeff Kaufmann said, “Iowa’s agricultural background has always captured the national imagination, and we feel the Central Iowa Expo will help us showcase this heritage. This venue also allows us to keep ticket prices affordable, ensuring families from across Iowa can participate in this one-of-a-kind event.”

The Iowa State Center in Ames, the Iowa Speedway, and Drake University all submitted bids to host this year’s Straw Poll.

And, by a remarkable coincidence, Jeb Bush will have, bar far and away, the largest, most expensive presence there. A third-tier candidate will be selected to “surprisingly challenge” him, after which that candidate will rapidly fade away.

Why spend money on a new script when the one from 1999 will do? The 1999 script was written for Jeb anyway, after all.
